Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
NWA Junk Hauling ("we," "us," or "our") is a locally owned and operated curbside junk-removal service based in Northwest Arkansas, serving Benton and Washington County, AR. We operate the website at nwajunkhauling.com (the "Site").
We are the "data controller" for personal information collected through the Site. Questions about this policy can be directed to us at help@nwajunkhauling.com.
2. Information we collect
2a. Information you provide directly
- Booking form: full name, phone number, email address, pickup address, ZIP code, preferred service date and time window, special notes, and payment mode (pay now or pay later).
- Careers / contractor application form: full name, phone number, email address, vehicle description (year, make, model, capacity), relevant experience, availability, and an optional statement of interest.
- Service-area expansion form: email address, for customers who ask to be notified when we expand to new ZIP codes.
- Communications: any information you include when contacting us by phone, text, or email.
2b. Information collected automatically
- Usage and analytics data: pages visited, time spent, referring URL, browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and general geographic region (city/state level). Collected via Google Analytics 4 (see Section 4).
- IP address: logged by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Session and local storage: your widget selections (tier, items, ZIP, payment mode) are temporarily stored in your browser's session storage to preserve your cart if you navigate away. This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you close your browser tab.
- Address geocoding data: if you enter a street address in the booking flow to receive a distance-based quote, that address is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service (openstreetmap.org) to calculate approximate distance from our service base. We do not retain the raw address query beyond the session.
2c. Payment information
We do not collect, store, or process credit or debit card numbers. All payment processing is handled directly by Square, Inc. through its secure checkout infrastructure. When you choose "Pay now," you are redirected to a Square-hosted payment page. Your card details are entered on Square's servers and are subject to Square's Privacy Policy. We receive only a payment confirmation and a transaction reference number.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and fulfill services — schedule pickups, confirm bookings, dispatch crew, and send post-service photo receipts.
- Process and collect payment — initiate Square checkout links for pay-now bookings; send payment-due reminders for pay-later bookings.
- Communicate with you — send booking confirmations, schedule reminders, job completion receipts, and respond to inquiries.
- Evaluate contractor applications — review submitted applications, contact applicants, and maintain records of hiring decisions.
- Notify expansion-waitlist subscribers — email you when service becomes available in your ZIP code, if you opted in.
- Improve our website and services — analyze site usage patterns (via GA4) to identify usability issues, improve conversion, and understand which cities and service types are in highest demand.
- Comply with legal obligations — retain booking and payment records as required by applicable tax and business-record laws (see Section 6).
- Prevent fraud and abuse — detect unusual or potentially fraudulent booking activity.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or marketing companies. We share information only in the following circumstances:
4a. Service providers (processors)
We share information with third-party companies that help us operate our business. Each is bound by data-processing obligations consistent with this policy:
- Square, Inc. — payment processing and checkout link generation.
- Google LLC — Google Analytics 4 for site analytics; Google Apps Script for booking management, job records, and confirmation emails; Google Calendar for scheduling.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting, content delivery, and security (DDoS protection, bot filtering).
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — address geocoding for distance-based quote calculations (address queries; no persistent storage by us).
- Commission Junction (CJ Affiliate / Conversant) — affiliate link tracking on our post-booking confirmation page (see Section 12).
4b. Legal requirements
We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, subpoena, or valid governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or respond to an emergency involving personal safety.
4c. Business transfers
If NWA Junk Hauling is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, personal information held by us may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected individuals via email and/or a prominent site notice at least 30 days before any such transfer is complete.
4d. With your consent
We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit prior consent.
5. Cookies and tracking technologies
Our Site uses the following categories of technologies:
- Strictly necessary (no consent required): Cloudflare security cookies (e.g.,
__cf_bm) that enable DDoS protection and bot filtering. These cannot be disabled without breaking site security. - Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): GA4 places first-party cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) on your browser to distinguish unique visits and measure traffic patterns. These cookies expire after 2 years. GA4 anonymizes IP addresses by default. Data is processed under Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. - Browser session storage: Used to preserve your pricing widget selections (tier, items, ZIP, and slot) within your current browser session only. Not a cookie — this data is automatically deleted when your tab is closed and is never transmitted to our servers.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or social media tracking pixels. We do not participate in behavioral advertising networks.
6. Data retention
- Booking records (name, address, items removed, payment amount, date): retained for 7 years to comply with IRS recordkeeping requirements for self-employed businesses (Ark. Code Ann. § 26-18-306 and federal tax regulations).
- Contractor application records: retained for 1 year from the date of submission, then securely deleted. Hired contractors' records are retained for the duration of the working relationship plus 3 years.
- Expansion waitlist emails: retained until you request removal or we notify you of service availability in your area, whichever comes first.
- GA4 analytics data: retained per Google Analytics' default retention period (14 months for event data). Aggregate, anonymized reports may be retained indefinitely.
- Email communications: retained for up to 2 years for customer service purposes.
7. Your rights and choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information. To exercise any of them, contact us at help@nwajunkhauling.com with your name and the email address used in your booking or application. We will respond within 30 days.
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request deletion of your personal information. We will delete what we are not legally required to retain (e.g., tax records must be kept 7 years).
- Opt-out of marketing communications: unsubscribe from any promotional emails via the unsubscribe link in each email, or by emailing us directly.
- Opt-out of analytics: use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on linked in Section 5.
- Data portability: request your booking data in a commonly used format (CSV).
We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
8. Arkansas residents
NWA Junk Hauling is based in Arkansas and fully subject to Arkansas law.
Arkansas Personal Information Protection Act (Ark. Code Ann. § 4-110-101 et seq.)
"Personal information" under Arkansas law includes your name combined with your Social Security number, driver's license or state ID number, financial account number, or medical information. We do not collect SSNs, state IDs, or medical information. Financial account details are collected solely by Square on our behalf and are subject to PCI-DSS standards.
In the event of a security breach that compromises the security, confidentiality, or integrity of computerized personal information about an Arkansas resident, we will notify affected individuals within 45 days of discovering the breach, as required by Arkansas law.
Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (Ark. Code Ann. § 4-88-101 et seq.)
We operate in full compliance with the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. We do not make false, misleading, or deceptive representations about our services, pricing, or data practices. The prices shown on our website are the prices charged — we do not add undisclosed fees after booking.
No sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information about Arkansas residents to third parties, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.
9. Children's privacy
Our Site and services are not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contractor applicants must be at least 18 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 in violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), please contact us immediately at help@nwajunkhauling.com and we will promptly delete it.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, including:
- HTTPS encryption on all pages (enforced by Cloudflare);
- Payment data processed entirely on Square's PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure;
- Booking records stored in Google Sheets with access restricted to the business owner;
- Square API tokens stored in Google Apps Script Properties (server-side only — never in client-side code or public files).
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-party links
Our Site contains links to external websites, including city government bulk-pickup pages (e.g., bentonville.ar.gov, rogersar.gov) and service provider sites. These sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit. Our links to these resources are provided for informational convenience only; inclusion does not imply endorsement.
12. Affiliate disclosure
Our post-booking confirmation page (/thanks.html) may contain affiliate links to third-party services such as self-storage facilities, moving companies, and related services through the CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction) network. If you click one of these links and make a purchase or sign up for a service, NWA Junk Hauling may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate relationships do not influence our service recommendations. We only feature affiliate links to services we believe are genuinely useful to customers who have just completed a junk-removal booking.
This disclosure is provided in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 C.F.R. Part 255) and the CAN-SPAM Act.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes that materially affect your rights, we will provide notice by email to customers who have an active booking record, or by a prominent notice on our Site, at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
Your continued use of the Site after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of those changes.
